Introduction to Electronic Circuit Design by Richard Spencer,
Richard R. Spencer received the B.S.E.E. degree from San Jose State University in 1978 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1982 and 1987, respectively. He has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Davis, since 1986, where he is currently the Vice Chair for Undergraduate Studies and the Child Family Professor of Engineering. His research focuses on analog and mixed-signal circuits for signal processing and digital communication. He is an active consultant to the IC design industry. Professor Spencer is a senior member of the IEEE. He has won the UCD-IEEE Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award three times. He served on the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference program committee for nine years, has been a guest editor of the "IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits" and has been an organizer and session chair for various IEEE conferences and workshops. Mohammed S. Ghausi is a Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as Dean Emeritus of the College of Engineering, University of California, Davis. His research interests are in electronics circuits and systems, network theory, and active filters. Multimedia Messaging Service: An Engineering Approach to Mms
Multimedia Messaging Service: An Engineering Approach to Mms
The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is regarded as the best-of-the breed of proven messaging technologies, surpassing SMS and electronic mail to offer a truly multimedia experience to mobile users. The first commercial solutions appeared on the market in 2002 and the penetration rate of MMS is now quickly approaching the required level for mass-market adoption. By leveraging accessible technologies, MMS has gained wide acceptance from major market players and provides great business opportunities for the whole telecommunications industry.    Introduces usage scenarios and provides a comprehensive description of enabling technologies for MMS, from version 1.0 to version 1.2 (featuring message content classes, video support, online message boxes, digital rights management, etc.)Demystifies MMS standards by clearly illustrating technical explanations with numerous practical examples, from the design of multimedia messages to the interfacing of applications with MMS centresSheds light on common implementation pitfalls and known interoperability issues Based on the author s own experience as a standardization expert and software architect for one of the major handset vendors, "Multimedia Messaging Service provides a stimulating practical reference book for network operators, content designers, device manufacturers and developers of messaging applications, and will also appeal to researchers and students.

Return address - In both conventional and electronic messaging, a return address is an explicit inclusion of the address of the person sending the message. It provides the recipient (and sometimes authorized intermediaries) with a means to determine how to respond to the sender of the message if needed.

Variable message sign - A variable (also changeable, electronic, or dynamic) message sign, often abbreviated VMS or CMS, is an electronic traffic sign often used on roadways to give travelers information about special events. Such signs warn of traffic congestion, accidents, incidents, roadwork zones, or speed limits on a specific highway segment.

Bounce message - A bounce message, or Delivery Status Notification (DSN) message or, simply, a bounce is an automated electronic mail message from the receiver's mail system, the message tells the sender that the message could not be delivered. The original message is said to have bounced.

Variable envelope return path - Variable envelope return path (VERP) is a technique used by some electronic mailing list software to enable automatic detection and removal of undeliverable e-mail addresses. It works by using a different return path (also called "envelope sender") for each recipient of a message.
